With the use of Oxford 950B Chip Technology and you PCMCIA Card Slot, you can expand your Notebook computer with 4 external RS232 Serial Ports via a PCMCIA connection. Controlled by an Oxford chip set, this CardBus Serial device can handle all devices connected to it!
This Serial RS232 multi-port PCMCIA CardBus is a high performance serial port adapter that is specially designed using Oxford chips to connect standard serial devices to any notebook computer that is PCMCIA enabled. The Quad Port PCMCIA CardBus is a 32 bit card that supports all its enhanced features with its 16C950 UART's that defined by serial port specs. The 4 RS-232 has much more flexibility in its positioning with its soft cables allowing an easier connection to your peripherals. |
How the PCMCIA Quad Port Serial RS232 Adapter works
The PCMCIA QUAD-Port Serial RS-232 adapter set allows the use of multiple serial devices via CardBus control and is self powered by the PCMCIA card slot it's connected to. The PCMCIA Quad-Port Serial RS-232 adapter offers flexibility of connections and simultaneous usage of all ports at any one time. To install the device on your computer for the first time, first connect the serial cable to the PCMCIA Adapter and then the adapter into your available PCMCIA CardBus slot in your notebook. Using the new hardware wizard, let Windows automatically install the hardware drivers which it will grab from the driver disk already in your drive. You will see the new hardware wizard several times as it must install the driver for each of the rs-232 serial ports to function properly with the PCMCIA CardBus Adapter. You will see that the PCI Communications Port drivers will be installed for each new hardware found. During the installation Windows will ask if you want to continue installing the converter drivers, click continue to finish the install.
